About HFSD

Our mission is to advance public awareness of Humanism and of its principals of social progress through dialog, acts of compassion, pursuit of justice, and promotion of critical thinking.

Secular humanism embraces human reason, ethics, justice, and philosophical naturalism while specifically rejecting religious dogma, supernaturalism, pseudoscience, and superstition as the bases of morality and decision making.

We unite secular humanists and ethical atheists and skeptics in San Diego County of California.

We Are on the Map!

Finally, after two months, I managed to put us on the map!

Before, using Google Maps for local organizations, people in our area had only two options: Unitarian Church (yes, their profile was sometimes directly shown for the keywords like "humanist") and Humanist Association.

Now, even if you search for "humanist fellowship" on the main serch engine page, we come first under the map - we are locally discoverable. After establishing our Google My Business presence, registering by paper mail with Google, tweaking service areas, adding cards and stuff like that, it started to look acceptable.

Google put me through a lot, but now all can see us, our area (SD County) correctly, links, etc.

If you have a google account, please review HFSD (link on the bottom left, on the panel by the map on desktop, scroll down on mobile).

  1. I am Mexican and have lived in the Mexican side of the Mexico/US border most of my life. Yet, I did my Grammar and High School in a private American School in California and attended doctoral studies at USD. Also, I believe I unsuspectingly became a humanist as a result of my reading American authors. I consider the Tijuana/San Diego Region my home. Nevertheless, I am now writing from Mexicali, B. C. Mexico where I have been attending family affairs for about a year and I do not know yet where will I go next. According to the delimitation of the Humanist Fellowship of San Diego in the map, I am out of that zone. Does that mean I can't join this organization?
